Exposure modeling software, including FishRand-Migration (FR-M) and the Spatially-Explicit Exposure Model (SEEM) is available by contacting the Toxicology Directorate. A life history and bioaccumulation document is also available.

Spatially-Explicit Exposure Model

The Spatially-Explicit Exposure Model (SEEM) integrates the use of space in estimating exposure to wildlife species in a population-level context. Exposure (mg/kg-d) estimates are provided for individuals of a species based on user-defined movements that consider spatial aspects of chemicals in the environment and habitat suitability using a Habitat Suitability Index (HSI). HSI integrates the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Habitat Suitability Indices into a user-friendly database format that integrates with SEEM.

FishRand-Migration

The FishRand-Migration (FR-M) model is a spatially-explicit aquatic bioaccumulation model developed to support decision-making at contaminated sites and to support fish consumption warnings. FR-M has been expanded and augmented to include a spatially-explicit component to better characterize exposures for migratory and wide-ranging fish species.

Life History and Bioaccumulation Factors

This document gives life history and bioaccumulation factors for various wildlife species. Life history data include ingestion rates, food types, home range and body weight range and population characteristics, which enable calculation of exposure estimates. Bioaccumulation data include refined chemical- and biota-specific data that can be used to determine wildlife trophic transfer of contaminant concentrations in various food items.
